Play as Judy and discover what happened inside Naera Laboratory, find all the papers to understand the situation. Everyone is dead, but someone seems to be alive, it’s « Anna » the last scientist alive. Reach the last level of the facility to save Anna and escape the facility. Judy can slowdown the time to solve the puzzle, the power is limited to few seconds. The puzzles themselves are quite good. Mostly not too difficult, but some have been interesting. The mechanics involved are obviously the advertised slow time, and a lot of laser beams very similar to Portal 2. Except of course you don’t have portals for the beams to go through. The aesthetic is probably the coolest part.
Fun game. Where you can see that it’s a single developer indie game is in the writing and voice lines (those sound like they were recorded with text-to-speech?) but that’s exactly the aspects that are less important for a puzzle game where the concept is the important part and most storytelling is environmental. Regarding level design, it’s obviously the most important part of that type of game and the lone dev understood that. You’re not treated like a complete idiot and some rooms will give you a real challenge. The main complaint i’d have about level design would be about one non-puzzle, story-related room being used 3 times but kind of changed a little bit at the same time, which I think is pretty lazy.
TIME BREAKER Direct Play:
The main con and the most obvious one is the lack of polishing. Some small bugs and English typos can be found around, and there’s room for small improvements there and around. The creator of the game should have had more people play his game before release, as these problems/improvements could be all fixed in the matter of a week instead of having to update the game every day, but again, it’s his first release. Control-esque blocky architecture, but with darker surfaces and a lot of cool neon lights, and with some overgrowth kinda like those parts of Portal 2.. it all comes together in a game that’s very nice to look at.
