It’s that time! Its time to discover what it means to be a tree! Become a true work of art! Every frame a painting, every tree an original masterpiece. Be the best forest you can be! Invite up to 250 glorious trees to join your forest. You can host a server and set the amount of trees that can join along with passwords and making the lobby private. Servers that are public will appear in a lobby list when trees click “Join”. If a server is private you will only be able to join if that person is on your friends list or by invite. For transparency, multiplayer is tested with 4 trees, but it should support up to 250. There is no built-in voice chat. It is recommended that Discord or Steam chat be used. yet also an evolving concept. The author is relatively active and takes feedback into account, especially when it comes to adding features across versions. No real bugs that I can think of. In short, you open it and leave it running. Occasionally glimpse at the screen. Fiddle with the settings a few times. Then you might feel the urge to get another achievement or two, you end up in a multiplayer gathering, start running around and shaking your leaves. Maybe exchange a couple of awkward words.
This game changed my life, some games teach lessons of letting go, or moving on, but this one teaches you to stay where you are, take a moment and let time go. you can let time pass and relax. you can learn the true meaning of being a tree. this game has allowed me to understand just how much of the world revolves around trees, the masters of our existence, not because it provides us homes, or air, or heat, but because they are truly deities in this world. their grand design is what the world feels now, and every axe, chainsaw, and cut is not hurting them, but allowing to transcend their physical forms and dominate us in their true forms. we must accept and be martyred for the trees, their grace will allow us to thrive, their wrath will be our end.

It’s really damn fun to play, and honestly the occasional jank is usually more fun than it is annoying (with the only real exception being the lack of enough invincibility frames). The character writing is really damn strong, using the limited overall plot as a way to explore characters that haven’t been allowed to be characters in the games for years. The gameplay is really fun, even when it can be unrefined, and the level design, while varying from being a bit underbaked to “we just remade a whole level from Sonic Adventure 2”, never manages to be actively unpleasant outside a few sections where the designers got a bit too aggressive with making players latch onto a 2d plane in the open world (mostly notably on Chaos Island). Also, every boss fight manages to be incredibly fun and over-the-top.
