first-person horror game where you wake up in a creepy basement and your main goal is to escape the haunted house. As you explore, you’ll need to find keys and tools to unlock doors and solve puzzles. But beware, there’s a zombies everywhere. You must manage your inventory wisely. Collect and use items strategically to navigate through the dark rooms. And this is where the game design shines: This grab-pack is such an innovative concept that I’ve never seen used in a video game. Furthermore, it’s capabilities add to the opportunities for the types of puzzles I am faced with with those opportunities not being wasted in the slightest. Such an example is how I am able to divert electricity from one port to another in order to unlock doors, but at the same time while not stretching the arms too much which would result in me starting the puzzle over.
Sadly, this game chases trends for its success, and one of them is a deep and expansive lore that is vaguely told through vhs tapes of which I had no given motivation to find. it could have at very least had sections where I need to use the grab-pack to quickly open some doors or to fight off Huggy Wuggy, but it was just a running simulator. This wasn’t helped by the fact that being caught lead to a slow re-spawning process that felt frustrating to go through and that this chase scene is no different on each attempt of it.Immersive sound and atmosphere amplify the horror, keeping you on edge throughout. While the story may not innovate, the relentless pace and tension ensure a gripping experience. The voices that surround us as we play do a good job of pointing out things in the environment, combat and a plethora of other things. Since there are no tutorials or a HUD, the voices will give important information along the way, and I found this to be a special departure in terms of the storytelling that I haven’t really experienced in other games.

The combat is fairly simple and does get repetitive but it does the job well enough to move the story along. The main tools at your disposal are your weapon of choice and the innate ability to either dodge or parry enemy attacks, which can take a bit of practice to adjust to timings. As you progress through the story, more options for fights become available, such as the ability to heal, use wish stones that can buff you during fights and grindstones that add effects to your weapons to boost your damage output. You can use it to buy items or level up your character’s attributes to increase their effectiveness in a number of different ways.
