Yoku’s Island Express Direct Download
Yoku has arrived on Mokumana and he’s ready for the easy life, soaking up the sun and delivering parcels on a tropical paradise! However, an ancient Island deity is trapped in a restless sleep – and it’s all down to Yoku to traverse the island using a unique blend of pinball mechanics, platforming and open world exploration, in an amazing adventure to help those in need! Flip and bump our pint-sized protagonist around the stunning hand-painted island on your quest to rebuild the post-office, and wake an old god from its deep slumber. OPEN-WORLD PINBALL ADVENTURE: Coupled with its unique pinball platforming play style, Yoku’s Island Express offers non-linear gameplay that gives you the freedom to choose your own path across multiple questlines. WELCOME TO MOKUMANA ISLAND: Seamlessly Explore multiple regions of the island, including tropical beaches, lush jungles, snowy mountains, mysterious caves, and steamy hot springs!
UNLOCK THE AMAZING NEW ABILITIES: Help the friendly locals and earn a range of fantastic new power-ups! Vacuum explosive slugs and wake up sleepy villagers with the Noisemaker! CAPTIVATING STORY: Meet a cast of unforgettable characters across multiple storylines – whilst uncovering the islands deepest secrets. And maybe rebuild the post office too! Fun short game combining metroidvania and pinball gimmicks. Unlike some metroidvanias, this one is fun right from the start. If anything, the abilities you unlock are a bit tedious, but in the same way pinball can be tedious when you retry 10 times to get the correct angle. So if you hate pinball games this game won’t be for you. I’m not a die-hard pinball fan but still had a good time since deaths don’t matter, there are arrows on the paddles that helps with aiming, and you can manually adjust the ball on the paddles by pushing it around.
Yoku’s Island Express Direct Play:
The soundtrack is relaxed and pretty catchy. It’s annoying how the first ability is a party blower, it’s super loud and clashes with the vibe of the game. The story is just enough to justify exploring the map. Dialogue is short and doesn’t get in the way. You visit the whole island to fill mailboxes, help a few people, and save their world. It’s weird that the game makes them return to their status quo despite the island clearly having more deeply rooted issues that remain untouched at the end. I guess you’re just a bug after all. The base game is enjoyable enough to complete, but hunting down the games secrets and fully unlocking every pinball section is a delightful mix of rewarding and challenging that never fails to entertain me despite having hunted it all down multiple times. It is in my eyes entirely worth the 20$. It’s cute, it’s fun, the music is good, and the gameplay is better. Please try it out if you have the time.
