About The Game
You Died… but a Necromancer revived you! And will keep reviving you back to their crazy tower of death until you reach the top floor and get rid of them, allowing you to finally be free… Reaching the top to challenge the Necromancer is no easy feat, the pathways are narrow and full of traps: chainsaws, spikes, cannons, flamethrowers… On top of that, the floor behind you will start exploding if you take too long! The art is great, probably my favourite part of the game actually. The levels look nice, the traps look good but it’s really the character design that’s impressive. There are a bunch of characters on offer here, and they all look great. The animations are also well done. The gameplay is pretty straightforward, but it’s good fun. The levels are all very small, but as you progress through each area in the main game mode, or you climb higher in endless mode, they become increasingly packed with traps to avoid. On top of all the traps in your way, after a few seconds the floor behind you starts exploding, so you have some time pressure too.
There are three game modes here. The main game mode, versus mode and endless mode. The main mode has you climb through 25 levels split across five areas to reach the end. This can be played solo or co-op. Versus mode is, as far as I know, the same thing except players are competing against each other, this requires at least two players, so I obviously haven’t played it. The final mode is endless, which is what it sounds like. The game just generates level after level for you to run through, and you score is tracked by each tile you walk across. Level generation is pretty good. Each area has its own unique traps (or in some cases just different appearances for other traps), most levels have a few traps that vary from being pretty simple to quite challenging to avoid. If you have to play an area over and over again, you’ll probably end up seeing some similarities, but it’s not too big of an issue.

There are four different difficulty settings, and you can even customize the difficulty which is really cool. The four defaults affect how frequently you get checkpoints as well as how many traps spawn. If you customize it you can change those values, as well as a bunch of others including player size, speed, the speed of platform explosions etc. It actually took me a while to notice the customize option, but I’m really glad it was included. I really like the endless mode, but the lack of leaderboards for it makes it feel kind of pointless. It keeps a track of your high score, but that’s it. It doesn’t even have a local leaderboard. Adding a leaderboard to this would make it much more appealing as a replayable arcade game. The dev has mentioned that they’d like to add one, so hopefully we’ll see that soon.
