Even better than I remember. A true hidden gem from the Vita. Works fine on both my Steam Deck and on my PC, with both controller and Mouse and Keyboard. There was an issue people were having at launch with playing PC, but I think was limited to character creation and the intro, as I played that on my Deck with no issues, and then swapped to PC later and haven’t had a hitch since. Percy and the Accessories sound like crap AI for a reason, since it’s old clunky Text-To-Speech voice, same as it was originally just now in English instead of Japanese.
Though you can change the game audio to Japanese, you can’t change the TTS voices, which is a bit of a bummer; But, the actual English VAs are good and I find the uncanny valley of the TTS voices to add to the atmosphere. Despite a few hiccups plaguing some users and online play (I have not attempted Coop yet so I can’t attest), this is about as good as it gets for a handheld to PC/Console Remaster. Visuals look good, controls feel solid, and the gameplay is still just as good as it was before with a nice overhaul of the crafting system, and a new opt-in/opt-out Hard Mode of sorts. Assuming they can quickly sort out the above issues, I’d highly recommend this game, especially on the Deck since it feels right at home there.

Pretty sure people complaining about crashes have potato setups or are running apps and graphic mods on the background. I’ve been playing the game on a 4090/i9 and a Legion Go and had no problems after several hours in any of them. But I gotta agree that certain aspects of the remaster made it to be just a lazy port without much effort. The overhauled weapon system is appreciated, but other aspects like the panopticons only being for Japan prefectures instead of global cities, no advanced graphic settings, no support for other resolutions outside of 16:9 ones. That’s a shame, feels like Banco didn’t had any faith on the game.
