Onimusha: Way of the Sword marks a fresh chapter in Capcom’s long-running dark fantasy action series, trading familiar ground for a version of Kyoto during the Edo period that has been warped by a creeping supernatural corruption called Malice. The old capital, famous for its shrines and temples including the celebrated Kiyomizu-dera, has taken on a sinister cast as the veil between worlds thins and demonic creatures known as Genma claw their way up from the depths of hell into the land of the living. Their relentless cruelty has left the city drowning in fear. At the center of the story stands a young and single-minded swordsman, Miyamoto Musashi, who came to the capital simply to prove that nobody could match his blade. What he finds instead is a nightmare that reshapes his entire journey. Bound to a mysterious relic called the Oni Gauntlet, he carves a path through carnage while wrestling with a far more personal question: what he is actually fighting for.

Beyond the demonic hordes, Musashi meets human rivals whose skill matches his own, setting up tense duels to the death. The result is a bloody, atmospheric samurai adventure that pairs demanding melee combat with a haunted historical setting.
