Performances aren’t great, but the game is alright! Gotham Knights seems to get a lot of hate for very little reasons. Sure, the framerate isn’t good, but Arkham Knight was a total disaster on that front when it came out. Remember Steam issueing refunds after the 2hrs/2weeks period because the game was running so terribly bad? I do, cause I got a refund back them. I won’t be asking one for GK though, it doesn’t run perfectly, but it runs and it’s playable, and I don’t even have a high end PC.
Before we talk about the game, let’s talk about the other elephant in the room: this is not and Arkham game. I feel a lot of people are just disgruntled because they didn’t get another Arkham game, but WB never lied about the fact that this WASN’T gonna be an Arkham game. A lot of people also seem disgruntled because they get bored of superheroes. I totally get that, but why would you subject yourself to anything superhero related when you don’t enjoy it? If you want to play Arkham, you have 4 other titles to play or replay. And I’d like to point out, as much as Arkham Asylum is one of my all time favorites and Arkham City is also pretty much up there, that Origins wasn’t bad but wasn’t brilliant either, and Arkham Knight wasn’t all that good nor fresh. And since a lot people complain about the plot of GK and how predictable it is, the plot of Arkham Knight was so damn predictable that everyone had it guessed BEFORE the game launched, to the point that Rocksteady had to make statements about the fact that folks got it all wrong, and that Arkham Knight (wait for it) was totally not Red Hood. Plot twist, he totally was.

Anyway, let’s talk about Gotham Knights. It isn’t perfect of a game, it’s got a few bugs, some aspects need tweaking, a lot of annoyances could be fixed with a patch or two, but it’s still fun. First of all, you can play coop and coop makes everything better. No friends to play with? Well, the game might feel a bit more repetitive and a bit less lively, but it’s still alright. Combat is nice, it’s got more to it than what originally seems. You can tweak out the difficulty to better fit what you’re looking for, and you’ll have enough content to keep you busy for at least 20-30 hours if you’re not a completionist. The game clearly has its moments here and there (although not as much as the Arkham games, I’ll give you that), and feels pretty good once you start getting the hang of your travel power, perfect dodges and timed attacks. There are the usual side activities which, to be honest, I could have had a little bit more of, but a least no one will complain that travel power challenges or bike races will overstay their welcome. On a sidenote, the batcycle feels so much better than Arkham Knight’s overused batmobile.
