Eternal Evil Direct Download
An apocalyptic event is destroying a small town. Its citizens are turning into bloodthirsty ghouls, attacking the remaining humans, who are hopelessly trying to survive. The situation is dire, but maybe you can turn it around. Uncover what or who caused it and why. To accomplish this, you will have to use firearms, carefully inspect objects and notes, explore the surroundings and solve puzzles. This Game contains content not appropriate for all ages, or may not be appropriate for viewing at work: Frequent Violence or Gore, General Mature Content and Occasional Nudity. This game was a positive surprise. For me it was abit of a slow burner, I wasn’t really feeling it, first impressions were not amazing, but after 30 min to 1 hour or so it starts to take off and you begin connecting the dots, finding things. And it shows that this game has a lot of attention to detail and work put into it. The puzzles make sense, they make you really think but they aren’t stupidly hard or convoluted, I loved the Knight puzzle particularly.
The enemies have scuffed moments but nothing at all that impacted the game very negatively, just enemies getting stuck on things occasionally, AI being weird. The graphics look really good, and the animations and things like that are great aswell. Eternal Evil is clearly inspired by the likes of Resident Evil’s survival horror. You’ll play as a character who is investigating a murder which eventually opens up into a larger, end-of-the-world type of scenario. The story is compelling and despite some parts feeling incomplete at early access. The world’s levels and atmosphere always feels empty, dark, and haunted. The music further immerses the player into the horror world that they’re exploring. You’ll occasionally encounter puzzles of various difficulties to solve, manage resources in your inventory, backtrack to different areas of the world to encounter new unlockable rooms, read documents that flesh out the story and lore, and encounter various enemies that can sometimes deplete your ammo count. All of these things feel familiar to an avid Resident Evil fan, but the first person perspective of this game and the vampire twist make things feel a little more unique and fresh.
Eternal Evil Pre-Installed:
You’ll carry the standard survival horror weapon package: a Pistol, Shotgun, Grenade Launcher, Automatic Rifle, Magnum, and Molotov Cocktails. All of the weapons look, animate, and sound great. Their bullet impacts feel satisfying. I think that the grenade launcher’s explosions can use a little more “oomph” in the sound department, but is otherwise serviceable. Ammo is easy to come by, and unless you intend to kill every single enemy without caring about how well your shots are taken, you’ll rarely encounter an ammo shortage. Ammo does NOT sort into your inventory slots, so you can carry as much of it as you want and never be encumbered by it. Most of the puzzles aren’t too difficult to figure out if you’re willing to donate the proper amount of time to think things through and sort out the hints that you’ve been given in the game. A couple of the puzzles, however, were quite difficult and time-consuming. The hardest puzzles include Greek mythology references and Latin text which you’ll probably need help from your favorite internet search engine to fully interpret (assuming that I had failed to find an additional file or something in-game that interprets any of these things aside from ‘the book’). On my first playthrough I only used the puzzle skip items once, and that was after ~30 minutes of trying to interpret that puzzle’s pieces, sorting out which slot each piece should be organized in, only to figure out that I somehow had it wrong the whole time and just wanted to move on more than anything. Puzzle skip pieces are plentiful, but I do encourage anyone reading this to challenge yourself and solve the puzzles anyway- especially if you want the achievements.
