Lunistice Direct Download
Lunistice is a linear 3D platformer that is heavily inspired by the 32-bit era of yesteryear. Follow Hana the Tanuki on her adventure through her dreams! Explore the different dreamscapes to guide her to her final destination – The Moon – and try to uncover the secrets of “The Lunistice” along the way! Explore a multitude of different dreamscapes created from Hana’s memories! Jump and run through an old shrine, a fancy water park or a world made out of food! Lunistice is designed as a simple and short experience that you can easily play in short bursts! Have fun and enjoy the good vibes! Try to beat your fastest times and highest completion and get an S-Rank on every stage! And if you’re looking for some additional variety: play the whole game as a different character with their own skills and gameplay.
Ironically the best 3D Sonic game that I played, which I know is not a very high bar, but still, I purchased Sonic 06 as a gift for a birthday, and I waited 10+ years for a good rail section. These sliding levels are so much fun and have so much mid-air escapism, actually so good, and probably the most well-implemented version of this type of gameplay. The first zone is mostly generic platforming, but as soon as you hit the theme park, the game is like a full-on Roller Coaster fetish, and I absolutely love it. Now the game is not just a linear runner, well it kinda is, but the way they designed the levels with the forks, you can pretty much play it as a collection game and explore different parts of the stages, and I am pretty sure it’s intentional.
It’s not difficult, there is a checkpoint almost every 20 seconds, you can take your time and enjoy it the way you want, for me it was just playing the stages and enjoying the level design. I thought the camera movement was not perfect, but it’s something that I got over after the first 10 minutes, and you can lower the sensitivity, it’s just that sometimes they will fix on certain angles and it will make it hard to judge the distance, that being said, what retro-inspired game would it be if the camera didn’t kill a few times. For the most part, I didn’t have any big issues with the platforming, it’s a relatively forgiving game, you can do a double-jump+air spin so you have a lot of control in the air.

The best part of the game, aside from that killer soundtrack, the levels are just so pretty (except maybe for the first zone) so many cool angles when you move around. They introduce a few different stage mechanics here and there, but it’s a pretty basic platfomer, nothing too complicated. You can replay the game with different characters that have unique perks, granted I am not sure when I unlocked them (probably after beating it). You should be able to finish the game within 3 hours, but you can get a lot more out of it, depending on your completionist needs. It’s just a fun and pretty platformer, what can I say. Some of the most fun sliding/rail sections, I really enjoyed just looking at her gliding on the lines, so many cool angles. There is a bunch of collection content, I kinda just played through the levels, but you can get more out of it.
