Some souls-like mechanics combined with fast gameplay of older movement shooters, with some inspiration from games like Ultrakill, then adding it’s own spin along with some roguelite mechanics. Movement is smooth, weapons feel great, enemies are well balanced, abilities are fun, progression is satisfying, sweet hub area, dope crafting & upgrade system, runs great, and so much more. All of that wrapped up in an amazing artstyle and retro style graphics.
Voidborn Pre-Installed:
You can really tell that the game has been given a lot of love throughout its development already and even at this early stage, it’s already super solid. I reckon that even someone new to the Roguelite genre could pick this one up very quickly and enjoy it in no time. And for the ones already familiar with the genre, they’ll definitely enjoy it. You can deflect attacks and you have a metric ton of movement options. Still, the movement feels more grounded compared to ultrakill, you seem to have more weight so you fall faster and don’t go as far, which is interesting since the second area mostly consists of floating islands that occasionally tempt the player with goodies on islands a bit more out of the way.
