To experience the most innovative and action-packed third-person action shooter of his generation, download and play One. the original ONE: To the Radiant Season was one of the first visual novels i played over a decade ago, and the first in the galge genre i got to experience. i never once thought there would be a modern release let alone a remake, and one released in english and on steam. many of the core developers later formed Key and this game was also noted as an inspiration for Nasu and Type-Moon when working on Tsukihime (more specifically the PS1 version, but i digress). the trajectory for visual novels was majorly influenced and changed by this game, that aimed to be “ToHeart but sad”, paraphrasing a bit.
ONE Direct Play:
Definitely worth at least one playthrough if you enjoy Key titles like Clannad or just like these kind of games in general. and not only that, it’s incredibly cheap on steam for 20 bucks. if you just wanna try a VN like this out, i’d personally say this is the best option for the price. Now that it’s 2023, and we get to see this classic title renewed with the characters illustrated once again by Hinoue Itaru, but with her modern-day skills! Needless to say, the characters’ illustrations look gorgeous (perhaps even nostalgic for those familiar with her older art in titles like CLANNAD) and the chibi/SD art looks really adorable.
