One of the biggest additions is a brand-new Gamma Worldline route. In this timeline, the time machine was never completed and D-Mails—the messages capable of changing the past—do not exist. Okabe ends up in a world where the people he expects to be his friends treat him with hostility, creating a much darker situation than the original story. Spike Chunsoft describes this route as bringing a new and particularly brutal experience to Okabe and the player. In simple words, STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT is about time travel, changing the past, alternate timelines, friendship, romance, conspiracy and the consequences of trying to control fate. You start with a group of young people experimenting with technology, but their discovery gradually turns into a fight against forces that could completely change their lives. The reboot is designed both for longtime STEINS;GATE fans and newcomers, with updated presentation and additional story content.

The game is developed by MAGES. and published by Spike Chunsoft. It is a single-player visual novel/adventure and supports Japanese voice acting with English, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese text. The PC version is listed for Steam, with the worldwide Steam launch scheduled for August 20, 2026; console versions are scheduled for October 29, 2026. Overall: STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT takes the famous time-travel story of STEINS;GATE, rebuilds its visuals and interface for modern systems, adds new scenes and the Gamma Worldline, and gives players another opportunity to experience Okabe’s struggle with time, fate and the consequences of changing history.
