Really enjoying this – like a vacation, it’s a low-stakes ride that changes things up fast enough to never get old, and it’s juuust challenging enough to feel stimulating without actually putting up too much resistance. It’s a good chill game in that way. 3 hours in and i love this game a lot; I’m sure there’ll be a lot of stuff in the future, but just the amusment park-esque method of exploring dungeons, all of which so far have felt so unique, with a pretty clear progression system that makes it easier to just play the game and not try and minmax everything to do endgame content at lvl 1 just makes it a nice slow burn that really makes you want to actually explore and talk to people, try to solve little hidden puzzles and stuff to get that little edge that slowly pushes you forward.

The combat is a pretty standard attack-dodge system that really shows its flaws once you start encountering large amount of enemies at once, though mana skills and attack skills are a fix to this. There’s also a charm that you get right at the start that helps with this, though I haven’t been using it. But, the combat system isn’t the focus here, and it’s good enough. I mostly enjoyed it. I enjoyed the progression system in this game. You have a couple of different upgrade systems that are distinct and simple. However, it’s kind of easy to skip portions of the progression since you might do a dungeon of a higher level than the game expects you to do and consequently pick up equipment that is a fair bit stronger than what you originally had and what the shops currently are selling. The writing feels pretty fine to me. I haven’t yet completed the game, so I can’t say anything about the ending, but the characters and plot haven’t felt particularly oppressive. I generally don’t care for writing or characters in games that don’t fit a specific niche, so the fact that the story/characters haven’t annoyed me so far and has been pleasant is a big plus in my book.
