The trailers are spoilers, character memes are spoilers, even the names of areas and creatures are spoilers. Yet they are spoilers in such a way that you can still talk about the game quite comfortably, because frankly the game does a brilliant job of pretending to be a quarter of the size it actually is. The story is almost perfectly detailed, but it’s a work of art you’ll have to reveal for yourself, because the game isn’t going to give you a word of it without a fight. Speaking of which – the combat in this game. It is beautiful. Or, it will be when you get the hang of it, which will take the entire game. There are several layers to the combat, plus a few which I’m pretty sure I’ve only touched when I’m at my peak, and they’re only going to get better as you find more. More importantly, there isn’t a single one of them which doesn’t have a place in any given boss fight, turning some of them into a competition of how much style you can use on your opponent at any one time – because in this game, looking cool is very much equivalent to being it.
