DOOM: The Dark Ages is a dark-fantasy first-person shooter developed by id Software and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is part of the famous Doom series and acts as a prequel to Doom (2016) and Doom Eternal. The game was released on May 15, 2025 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The story takes place long before the modern Doom games and shows the early legend of the Doom Slayer, a powerful warrior fighting in a brutal war against the armies of Hell. The game explores the origin of the Slayer’s legend, showing how he became the unstoppable demon killer known throughout the Doom universe. The story is presented with more cinematic scenes and deeper lore than previous Doom games.
