I’m glad they removed the demo, that almost made me not buy it after playing it because it was terrible… anyway I am very glad I ended up buying it, it is very much improved since then and I am enjoying it very much… it does need some polish though to some of the graphics I think, mainly the reflections could be improved a bit it looks great for the most part though and I would love if they eventually could add some DLC, more courses and other content too, its definitely worth its price as it is though.. definitely I recommend.. it is really bringing back F-Zero GX vibes for me the more I play.. more new crazy courses please Devs… love the music too. I’ve put in about four hours so far, and I plan to go back and add many more. Although this is my first foray into the Flashout series, as a lifelong fan of AG racers such as Wipeout and all of its spiritual successors, I felt right at home.

The game currently offers ten tracks split across a multitude of modes that will have you doing everything from standard races and time trials to racing against others to avoid elimination, and even a mode where the priority is to get as many kills as possible. The focus on weaponry threw me off initially, but once I had warmed up it feels right at home. The kills are brutal and spectacular, and can often mean the difference between clutching a win in the final sprint to the finish line. The tracks are varied enough to break up monotony, and there are some fun destructible sections that give a sense that there could be more done with it rather than just debris scattered along the field. The ships themselves compliment the track design and run the gamut of various distributions of handling, speed, durability, energy, and the like. Weapon slotting gives arguably the most complex management element to the game in terms of power distribution, but the lack of additionally complexity here doesn’t feel like a loss. Flashout III clearly wants you to think less and race more – and it works wonders there.
