An hour in and I can easily say that the latest entry in the DKC franchise is really great so far! I love how Dixie is back, though, she looks a little weird honestly… and Diddy’s… a floating head, or… something. Anyway, it feels just like the old games, and there’s even some visual design reminiscent of another favorite of mine, Super Mario World (I swear, those slopes are the exact same angles) You know, thinking on it more it seems like they changed a LOT of things actually. The bananas look totally different (they’re all crystallized or something?), the “KONG” letters (which I was glad to see are still here!) are… I think one or two of the letters might actually be wrong? It’s just not like Nintendo to miss something like that… gosh, even the Kremlings, they’re all in these weird vegetable costumes!
LOLLIPOP SUMMER! Pre-Installed:
You can move better and dash underwater. Works fine, but nothing special. The Dragon/Lizard transformation/mask makes the game into an auto runner. This is the second-best transformation/mask. I enjoyed all the levels with it, especially getting the collectibles. The collectibles were placed good, but the coins are often too easy to get and the portals not hidden well enough. Collecting enough gems also was not a big problem most of the time. The different enemies work as intended. Again nothing special but also not bad. The bosses also were pretty good, except the final boss. The final boss was very underwhelming and too easy. I thought I just finished the first half of the fight and then it just ended. Using all the masks is a good idea, but the sections are pretty lame. The Bird/Air section was way easier than the first time it was used. Feels unfinished to me.
