Become a master general. Strategically assemble your army from a selection of unique units and abilities to deploy into fast-paced battles. Watch your master plan play out, and adapt as the battle progresses, all with minimal micromanagement. Mix and match units from a selection of infantry and armor alongside artillery and air support to push into the enemy’s base and fight off any counterattacks. Tap into multiple upgrade trees for each unit and unlock additional abilities to fine-tune your army. No base building or resource harvesting required. Focus on the battle as your army can advance, attack and take cover all on their own. Take command when needed to adapt and control the overall situation as your units either follow your masterplan or your direct orders Balance your resources to pick an army composition suited for each mission.
A deep and complex battle system means you’ll need to react quickly, choose the right mix of soldiers and Killstreak rewards, and utilise complementary unit synergies to gain any advantage. Highly destructible environments, covers, ragdoll physics and a dash of gore all bring the battlefield to life. Its like the flash games Battlegear and stick war with a modern touch. Does need some polish though. Cover system is hit or miss sometimes and the music is decent, but you can tell its from a royalty free pack. It gets a bit repetitive when doing longer levels. It a solid game though. Its got more depth than i expected and there is good incentive to try and push harder difficulty content. lots of unlockables and unit progression trees you can customize. The controls take a little getting used to but they are far from bad.
Operation Polygon Storm Direct Play:
Game is a bit short but has a lot of replay value from what I can tell. Very fun though if you like to experiment with different build orders and team compositions. The biggest negative ill throw out there is that it took me 4 hours to beat all 10 main campaign missions on hard. I have not started on the endless mode though. Basically this game took the concept of Warpips and made it better mechanically, but with out the roguelike mode. You can have full control of your troops! you can tell them where to take cover, advance, target, and even retreat back to base to regroup. I will say there is a minor pet peeve that you can not see when massive attack waves are coming or when lulls will happen in the enemy waves. I also found my self frustrated a couple times because i couldnt seem to click on an enemy that was in cover. I dont know what the developers plans are for the game going forward but i think it would be beneficial to add on to what is already here.
