RUSLICSTAN INVADES , in this first-person horde-shooter, defend Ukraine from ferocious swamp hordes! A shooter who doesn’t waste time warming you up but is actually rather good. Hordes of lower-class creatures will immediately swarm you. It borrows several strategies from Doom Eternal in that you must engage with foes in a particular way to regain your resources. In this context, it refers to shoving your adversaries. A group of orcs is kicked with a plastic chair, and as a result, they are (somehow) dismembered and you regain your health and ammunition. Finding objects to toss after a few waves gets incredibly tedious and disrupts the flow of combat, although it works perfectly at the beginning of an arena when everything is still in its place. Engaging horde slaying action. Great music. The horror aspects blend really well with the ideology of the game. If your russophobia is insufficient, you may not enjoy it, but that’s a personal failing on your part.
I feel like it does a good job of abstractly conveying the experience of war as a civilian in Ukraine. You find yourself in a peaceful environment like a market or nightclub, when suddenly the rotten stinking russian world starts streaming in and the environment is soon littered with explosions, blood, and body parts. All in a twisted rashist attempt to expand their putrid anti-culture. The orks are portrayed in a laughably awful fashion, and the voice acting is beyond cringeworthy. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a vatnik; I just believe that if they were more realistic, killing them would be lot more enjoyable. It’s ok. A single evening game at that cost is an obvious choice. Although I can understand why some people would not find it funny or engaging, I did enjoy the music (particularly near the end) and the general approach. possibly even offensive. Only those who are familiar with the Ukrainian setting may appreciate the top-notch cutscenes. The orks and their ideas are fairly well depicted. 8/10 Time and money well spent.

The retro aesthetics, featuring purposefully washed-out palettes and low-res models, blend superbly with all the modern tech goodies as real-time lighting, physics and advanced effects. More than a few times, stages will have dynamic, evolving backgrounds where battles play out, destruction happens, and mayhem usually ensues. Despite its fast pacing, Turbo overkill lets its art direction be appreciated and enhanced in smart ways. Other than achievements for the serial pain seekers, secrets unlock interesting gameplay modifiers and secret levels for each chapter, so they’re definitely worth your time. For the rest, levels play out in the classic old–school fashion, which features color-coded keys, switches and at times objectives to clear, arenas to conquer before being able to proceed.
