About The Game
Serial Cleaners’ setting—inspired by cult ‘90s movies—will bring back fond memories of the more carefree decade full of brightly colored optimism… and the grime underneath it all. Really digging this game! I’ve played about 2.5 hrs so far. I’ve been playing at a pretty slow pace which has been enjoyable for me. I love the mix of art styles & textures in the visuals, and the diversity of music is great. Love the jazz and the synthy stuff. The characters are pretty interesting also- Lati rules. I am not a huge fan of all the twitchy graphics – it’s distracting. I watched a friend play this before I did, and I have to say that watching it vs. playing it feels totally different, which I can’t say for every game. Stoked to see where the storyline goes! at time of review, finished chapter one, in the middle of chapter two. Opening scene: music and art bring out the best of 90s nostalgia right away. Within the overarching theme, there are individual tweaks in the scenes tailored to the character in focus at any given time.
Switching between scenes and characters and stepping in and out of the narrative is smooth, fun, easy to follow, and highly relatable. Characters: personality is matched perfectly to the skillsets, attitudes and capabilities. The narrative and script is quirky with creative and innovative lines, not to mention littered with references and courtesy nods to 90s classics. Gameplay logic: can follow many routes to finish cleaning up the scene, but in general, stealth, good timing and patience brings the best results in my experience so far.

NPCs: the cops are endearingly blind, deaf and forgetful creatures of habit, but in higher numbers they pose a formidable challenge in tight spaces which balance out their individual shortcomings. unable to transport bodies in elevators, I found this somewhat illogical and vexing. No for vents is clear, space is insufficient. I understand that the no go for elevators can prompt additional actions, but the elevator should still be an open option in my opinion. Highlight: vacuuming snow and a parking lot I found incredibly hilarious and entertaining, one formidable vacuum cleaner!
