A little challenging for me, but not insurmountable, so it feels very rewarding. Cracks in the enemies instead of health bars is genius and also looks amazing/adds to the immersion of combat, the UI when you’re playing is so clean it’s like it’s not even there and there’s enough variation in skills/weapons to play how you want to. The game rewards exploration and it’s one of those games where you want to explore, which is very rare these days It’s also linear, which I think the gaming world needs to realise is absolutely fine, not everything needs to be a giant open world that is 90% empty, I much prefer a smaller world that is dense with content. The puzzles are simple but also just calming as you go through the story.

If players choose to follow the main story only, the game has a satisfying relative playtime, but if players want to wander the maps, there is a significant chunk of playtime that is worth spending. The story itself is rich, and the theme that is explored really shines a light on the hues of death, grief, and healing. The darker overall meaning of the game is brought out through incredible time you spend in game, as you piece together a worthwhile adventure. Having 100%ed the game on my first save, I appreciate the level of detail put into the world of Death’s Door, giving players vast opportunities to find hidden gems of story and gameplay along their journey.
