The animations and art for this particular title were the highest end for a game of this genre, when this game came out in japan. And even today it still holds up extremely well and is still one of the best, which that alone is impressive. And this is the improved version from the original, the art is already great, so what they did is add full voice acting. Voice acting is a great way to improve a story, so this in itself is pretty massive, This is a masterpiece on all fronts. Visual novel in itself is a simple medium, but they experimented on how to present each scenes differently, which gives a very engaging feeling while reading. The music accompanying you while reading through each chapters are also amazing. The story itself, is a masterpiece and the characters as well. Soujyuro is a character I relate to heavily. This is one of those rare stories that I believe can appeal to people who do not like anime.

It avoids a lot of the tropes that turns off most people from the medium. Adding onto the accessibility, despite how massive the Type-Moon universe is, this story is technically the origin of the entire Nasuverse so you do not need to know anything about Fate, Kara no Kyoukai, or Tsukihime to understand it You should experience the story yourself since I believe this is the kind of story where you have to experience it to know what it means to you The story is relatively simple, but effective. In true Type-Moon fashion, the characters are what makes the story work. It is impossible to read this and not feel attached to the characters from their goofy slice-of-life interactions to their more emotional moments. Type-Moon did a great job with the voice cast and it’s weird to even imagine the novel without their voices despite the original 2012 release being silent. The animations also make every action scene feel extremely tense.
