The plot is about just a guy named Connor. All he wants after a hard day at work is to relax on the couch watching his favorite sports show with a bottle of beer. But this evening is special. Evening before New Year. There was a few places where it got me pretty good and the achievements are easy to get it’s not anything revolutionary, and the monster was probably the least creepy thing about the game. It was a nice shift from some of the other low costing horror games I’ve played though and seems to function well outside of two fireworks I couldn’t set off for the life of me. Really enjoyed this short horror experience! Loved the atmosphere and detail in the game setting. Fun for a quick festive experience! The gameplay has a pretty cool mechanic, and some puzzles can be quite challenging, but I most enjoyed the excellent story and overall atmosphere of this game that keeps you going to try to figure out how it’s going to end.
Altero is an atmospheric puzzle platformer in which players take on the role of Adi, the spirit of a young boy trapped in a voodoo doll. Only by sacrificing himself can he progress through the Forest of Sorrow and find peace. Overall, Altero is a bit of a mixed bag, the artwork and soundtrack are both stunning and the mechanics are unique and interesting and there are some very satisfying puzzles. The game introduces inventive chess-based scenarios, such as football, farming, turn-based combat, and more, displaying not only creative imagination but also impressive execution. The journey begins modestly on a farm, where you control a knight piece to cultivate crops on a grid, adhering to the L-shaped movement pattern characteristic of the knight. Initially straightforward, the challenges become more intricate as you progress, requiring control over multiple knights simultaneously.

Constraints, such as movement restrictions and reduced playing areas, add an extra layer of puzzle-solving complexity. Subsequent challenges involve utilizing the queen, the most powerful chess piece, to engage in turn-based combat against rooks, bishops, and other queens. Each puzzle set, including over twenty challenges, comes with a battle mode where you face off against AI in a traditional format with puzzle rules applied. These modes offer varying difficulty levels to test your skills. The goal is to solve puzzles by using the animals’ unique moves to capture the opponent’s pieces. It’s like regular chess but with a fun farm twist. In Dragon Slayers, the chess pieces turn into knights, dragons, and other magical creatures.
