Withering Realms drops players into an alternate 1926, a decade after a catastrophic surge of occult energy brought the Great War to an abrupt end and rewrote the rules of reality. Corpses no longer stay buried, restless spirits drift through the countryside, and a rare handful of people have learned to bend this new force into genuine sorcery. The story follows Clover, a nine year old girl who wakes up alone inside a crumbling mansion only a short distance from where the disaster first erupted, and who slowly comes to understand that she did not survive it. Her sole protector is an unsettling doll stitched together from timber, scrap metal and human bone, animated by something nobody fully understands. Built by the same developer behind Withering Rooms, this horror action RPG sends the pair through the fog bound town of Penwyll and the enormous burial grounds ringing it, chasing any rumour or ritual that might restore the girl to the living.

Exploration pushes downward and outward, through family tombs, flooded caves and estates left to rot, each hiding coin, crafting components and artifacts humming with strange power. The doll is missing its right arm, and that empty socket doubles as the central progression system: salvaged parts can be forged into swappable armaments such as an enchanted candelabrum, a swinging chain and rock, a machinegun or a flamethrower, letting the guardian’s fighting style shift completely between encounters. The playable region grows as enormous guardians patrolling the borders are brought down, opening fresh stretches of map with every victory. Companions matter too, among them Althea, a fearless freelance investigator willing to pick locks, forge documents and lean on witnesses in her hunt for whatever Penwyll is hiding. Any location already cleared can be revisited after dark, where the geography stays familiar but the inhabitants do not, seeding new monsters and secrets into ground that felt safe hours earlier. The result is a gothic adventure that pairs inventive weapon crafting with a genuinely eerie world worth combing twice.
